This fiber is often creamy or white and comes in a variety of lengths, crimp levels and deniers. It contains an array of shrinking potentials and is easy to seal with steam and other related methods. Putting in Kanekalon Braids
Now that we’ve got the basics of this type of hair extension down, it’s essential to know the best way to put in these fantastic braids. The most common method is feed-in braids with kanekalon hair that can be achieved through a variety of styles. If you’re unfamiliar with this process, this video perfectly demonstrates how it can be done.
Once you’re sure of your color, be aware of the thickness of your natural hair. Choose smaller braids if you have thinner hair and larger ones for thicker hair to assure that your own hair can withstand the process. Before you put in your braids, make sure your hair is fully washed, moisturized. and brushed out. You’ll also want to be certain it’s free of any and all knots and tangles. Give your scalp a good massage as well.
Following an instructional video is ideal if you’re putting in your own kanekalon braids. Make sure to section off your hair with a fine-toothed comb and secure the extension at the root of your hair using a firm gel. As you braid your hair with the synthetic extensions, go easy on the pulling so you don’t damage the root and follicle of your natural hair.
Caring for Kanekalon Braids
You can absolutely switch up the variety of your braided hairstyles, but keep in mind that hair must be changed after 8 weeks maximum. You still want to maintain the health of your natural hair. While kanekalon hair can withstand a lot of heat, you should let your hair air dry after using a gentle shampoo to limit excessive exposure to heat.
If you plan to keep your braids in for a while, there are ways you can add moisture to your hair. Jojoba oil is a very balanced and moisturizing oil that you should apply to your hair regularly, regardless of extensions or not! A little goes a long way when it comes to hair oil.
Once you’ve got your braids in place, it’s ideal to sleep with a satin head scarf wrapped around your head to keep in moisture and to maintain the security of your beautiful braids. Spritzing your hair with a water-based (not alcohol-based) moisturizer will keep both your hair and the extensions soft and the frizz out!

When it comes to braid styles, the options are truly endless. Summer is upon us, so don’t be afraid to try out bold colors and chunky, patterned styles. Kanekalon braids are not only practical but of the finest quality and appeal. These braids let you embrace the hot color trends of the season without the commitment of a full dye job.
Give just a hint of color by adding a contrast color to your existing hair color, like this pink and blonde look.
